University students invented "green access control" has obtained national patents [full text]

July 30, 2023
Without the power system, the access bar can achieve its own take-off and landing. Yesterday, this “Green Access Control” invented by the student team of the Huazhong Agricultural University’s School of Engineering—the access control device for the non-energy smart highway tollgate has obtained national patents.

The picture shows the schematic model of the invention patent
It is understood that the invention of this patent was inspired by the fact that the inventor wandered around on campus and discovered that the motor vehicle would lose energy when passing through a deceleration zone, and this led to the idea of studying the use of this energy.

The invention patent was obtained by Tao Hailong and Liu Min, students of Huanong University of Technology. It used the pressure generated by the motor vehicle on the road surface when passing through the access control, and was converted into electricity to be consumed by the highway access control location through a series of devices. The author found that the only difference between the device model and the day-to-day access control system is that the deceleration zone is "active": the car passes and the deceleration zone is pressed to the ground.

Tao Hailong introduced that this deceleration zone is actually a “trigger device.” Motor vehicles pass through the deceleration zone after passing through the barrier bar, and the pressure on the deceleration zone of the motor vehicle is converted into energy through the linkage device to make the counterweight on the other side of the barrier rod. When it rises, the blocking bar automatically falls. When the next vehicle passes, the electromagnetic switch is turned on by a computer or human, and the counterweight falls, and the blocking bar rises. The entire system does not require a power system, which can be described as "green access control."

According to reports, the current general access control devices in China are mainly electric, hydraulic, mechanical, and so on. All of them require a power system, and the cost of purchase and use is high. The access control devices for motorway toll stations are as high as several hundred thousand yuan each, and some of the imported motor vehicle access devices are as much as several million. Each toll station has thousands of vehicles or even tens of thousands of vehicles each day, and it consumes innumerable energy.

It is reported that under the guidance of Professor Wang Wei and Professor Li Xiaojun of the Huanong Institute for Agronomy and Research, the project began to be researched and designed from last summer and was initially completed at the end of last year, and won the third prize of the National College Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Competition. It is currently in contact with relevant manufacturers and is expected to put into production applications.
